HTC had been the first manufacturer to provide Android software updates to its devices in the past, so in order not to be outdone now, it had promised early 2012 updates to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) for a number of smartphones.
Today the company has taken to its Facebook page to give us a more specific timeline of the upcoming updates with owners of its Sensation smartphones said to be getting the update first. ICS will start rolling out at the end of March to the HTC Sensation, Sensation 4G and Sensation XE. The HTC Sensation XL will get the update soon after.
The HTC Rezound, Vivid, Amaze 4G, EVO 3D, EVO Design 4G, Incredible S, Desire S and Desire HD will also get Android 4.0 updates but will have to wait a little bit longer, without any firm date given yet. Don’t despair if your device isn’t included in this list, chances are an aftermarket ROM, like the upcoming CyanogenMod 9, will allow you to upgrade to Android ICS.
