One of the biggest criticisms for Sony’s NEX line of mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras (MILCs) is the relatively small selection of native E-mount lenses. After Sony released a trio of excellent NEX camera bodies last year, including the NEX-7 and NEX-5N, the company seems set to tackle the lens selection issue.
Over at the 2012 CP+ camera show in Yokohama, Sony announced that it will be releasing eight new E-mount lenses during 2012 and 2013, bringing up the total to 15 lenses for the NEX camera system. We are promised 3 zoom lenses during 2012 and a standard (we’re guessing 35mm) large aperture prime lens, something that has definitely been missing from the format. In 2013 we should see a high performance Carl Zeiss zoom lens, a pancake lens and one more prime and a zoom lens.
